Washington County Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) is hiring two Associate Planners. We’re looking for enthusiastic, community-minded team players to work in our Long Range and Current planning sections. Both positions will enjoy the full scope of urban and rural planning duties.

Our Associate Planners have the opportunity to experience all that the LUT Planning sections have to offer. As an Associate Planner in Current Planning, you’ll review applications for land development proposals, hold pre-application meetings with prospective applicants, and perform field inspections. In Long Range Planning, you will develop new land use regulations, prepare plan and code amendments, and participate in community planning projects and prepare staff reports.
Both positions allow you to make a difference in the lives of those who work, live and play in Washington County.
From paper to people
Whether it’s a development proposal, plan amendment or ordinance, our Associate Planners help bring LUT’s work to the community. As an Associate Planner, you’ll answer citizen inquiries, and work with citizen planning groups to support community goals. Working with fellow planners and staff from other sections, divisions and departments, you’ll identify problems, create solutions and improve quality of life.

A bachelor’s degree in planning, urban studies, geography, architecture, community development, economics, environmental studies or a related field; AND
Two (2) years’ of work experience in planning.
